How to apply for a Carlsbad license

  1. File the application with the planned opening date in Carlsbad.
  2. Wait about four to six weeks while Building, Planning and Fire review it.
  3. Pay the fees on receipt of the invoice.

The City approves each license for one address, and a business that moves files a new application. When a business sells, the seller notifies the City to close the license, and the buyer applies in their own name.

When to hire a CPA for a business in two license classes

For a business with two lines of work in different classes, a CPA can track receipts by class from opening day. Compare firms with how to choose a CPA.
